Dilan, Dia Adalah Dilanku Tahun 1990 & 1991
This time I am gonna make a review about 'Dilan' a novel written by renowned Indonesia writer Pidi Baiq. I've been searching this novel for quite long time. Finaly when I went home last January, my sister Nana had the pdf's form of this novel. I am not reading it as soon as I get the novel. Because I still have another one and watching drama hardly make me had a time accomplish the novel soon, so I have just got a time to read. Devour this novel somehow reminisce me about my old days in junior high school. My story isn't exactly the same as the novel. The ambience of regular school (fyi in senior high I was enter boarding school), friends, teachers, crush on to somebody, those all happen when I was in junior high school.
I might call this novel is trilogy. There are three books, first: Dilan, Dia Adalah Dilanku Tahun 1990, second: Dilan, Dia Adalah Dilanku Tahun 1991, and third: Milea, Suara Dari Dilan. I started reading the first book yesterday and finished it at the same day. At night before I went to sleep, I'd opened the second book and had read few pages. In the morning I marathon read it and finish before the sun sets. I postponed reading the last book to make a short review about the first and second book.
Major point of this novel is about love that grows up in high school. The novel itself took place in Bandung with 90's background. I presented the casts of the novel; the protagonist and at the same time as narrator is Milea, 2nd grade high school student that just moved in Bandung due to her father official duties. Dilan as male protagonist is member of "geng motor" which is later crush on Milea. What is special about this novel of course is a plot. Above that I've fallen with Dilan character. He is a straightforward person when it comes to love. I remember the first conversation he had with Milea. He told Milea that he predicted that later they will meet again in canteen. But his prophecy turned wrong. Milea in other side feeling baffled. For the first time in her life bumped into someone and told her asinine prophecy. That was just the beginning of his unpredictably action that I am sure every girl in this world will fallen deep of his romantic words. He knows how to make people smile and treat them special. I recall when he gave Milea a solved Teka Teki Silang (TTS) as her birthday gift. Milea can only laugh as she accepted the gift. I bet he was the only person that ever give that kind of gift to the birthday person. Milea knows his sincerity, he was struggling complete all the question on TTS just to give her a gift. He is kind of person that never hold back his feeling. His joke easily makes people laugh. Not to mention how romantic he really is. He often send Milea chocolate but not by himself. He summon sometime teacher, postman just to help him give a chocolate to Milea (who on earth will ever do that?). I laugh read a part when Melia feeling unwell, Dilan send "Tukang Pijit" to massage her. Milea feeling grow big and bigger as she knows Dilan closer. Dilan likes to make Milea poetry. PR-ku adalah merindukanmu. Lebih kuat dari Matematika. Lebih luas dari Fisika. Lebih kerasa dari Biologi.
Kalau limun menyegarkan, kamu lebih. Kalau coklat diisi kacang mete katanya enak, tapi kamu lebih. Atau, ada roti isi ikan tuna berbumbu daun kemangi, kamu lebih. Kamu itu lebih sehat dari buah-buahan. Tahu gak? Lebih berwarna dari pelangi. Lebih segar dari pagi. Jadi, kamu harus mengerti, ya, aku menyukaimu sampai tujuh ratus turunan, ditambah 500 turunan lagi.
What Milea dislikes about Dilan was he join "geng motor". Well I know everyone isn't perfect, so does Dilan. But sometimes he got into trouble. Once he beleaguered by unknown people and made him injured. Milea had admonished even threaten break up with him so many times but It seems didn't affected him. So Milea with a heavy heart asked Dilan to break up hoping he will no longer involved and joined "geng motor". Dilan in other side took it seriously. They are losing in contact since Milea moved in Jakarta for her study. But deep inside Melia's heart Dilan will always and will never be replaced.
